About Me

My photo
Austin, TX, United States
A poltical idealogy for me has really never been narrowed down into what "party" im in, but what situations I agree on from my experiences and the experiences I see happening to others around me. I could have a Liberal view on an issue but have a stance in a more conservative overall outlook. Personally, I have that general family you see on the movies.... one aunt is democratic, ones republican, ones so on and so forth. I was raised in the country riding horses, down south with a bunch of country folks. and then I lived in Austin, LA, Alanta, Georgia where the liberal side had come out in me. I am taking this class to get more of a basic understanding on the United States government and advance from there. Sadly enough, the majority of Americans do not know how our country runs, and how the government works and I happen to be in that majority! Hopefully soon I will be out! Current events to me happen to Rihanna and Angelina Jolie not to our laws, military or anything of that sort. I hope to learn, to grow, and grasp the idea on American government

Lawmakers want photos of Bin Laden released!?

CNN reports that lawmakers have asked for Bin laden's death pictures to be released. In the recent capture of the terrorist, we have been filled with joy and relief that the search has come to an end. But the question remains if the public should see the "gruesome" pictures of the man we longed to be captured? Many Americans demand the proof that Bin laden is dead but why should we be put in harms way to satisfy a somewhat 'sick' curiosity? The answer is we shouldn't! If our government was to lie to us about the capture/death of Bin Laden why would they wait 10 years and many american deaths later? The math doesn't add up and the capture of Bin Laden is in fact true as many officials have seen the pictures of the dead terrorist, and even give harsh details about the pictures. Most government officials have seen the pictures and asked whether or not it is at interest for us to see them. One official says " In my opinion, there's no end served by releasing a picture of someone who's been killed, and I think there is absolute proof that Osama bin Laden was in fact the person ... killed," said Hoyer, D-Maryland. Others have ordered it and said the curiosity for doubtful Americans to be fulfilled and for us to be joyous. The best for us to know to protect our men and women over seas and even out home country is not to release pointless pictures of a dead terrorist leader to the public. I think personally Obama has made the right decision for the country and is keeping our best interest at heart.

Comments on a Colleagues Blog

In Melissa's Blog, she talks about the actions taken from Pastor Terry Jones of Florida who was outraged by the message of the Quran and cont. to burn it despite the interference from the Afghan Govnerment. The lives of American citizens over in Afghanistan were at risk as Pastor Jones expressed his ideas on American soil. Melissa states the selfishness of the American citizen and her dissapproval of his actions.

She continues to question his "Christianity" as his relegion too would not permit those kind of actions. I think this article was very informative, provided a students point of view on a event that most citizens would agree with her about. Her arguement and knowledge of the article was consise.

Georgia Governor signs law targeting immigration

CNN reports the somewhat strict new law signed by Georgia governor Nathan Deal inforcing new codes on illegal immigrants. The bill allows " law enforcement officers to ask about immigration status when questioning suspects in certain criminal investigations. It punishes people who transport illegal immigrants during the commission of a crime and imposes hefty prison sentences on those who use fake documents to get jobs." Some Senators have opposed the bill stating the people come over to fullfill life long dreams for themselves and family, many riots, boycotts and protests have taken place but have not taken any affect on the bill  changing. In my opinion, I agree on the bill being passed among ILLEGAL immigrants in Georgia for this is the second time in five years that Georgia lawmakers passed an anti-illegal immigration bill. Many citizens have complained about the drastic increase in taxes due to undocumented emergency room visits from an overcrowded state. Georgia's schools are also making it harder for children to get an decent education due to another drastic increase of immigrants making the schools very crowded. Every citizen should be required and mandated to pay taxes if you are living in the United States and using the freedoms just as much as the tax-paying citizens do. This could be one of the best laws written in potenitally most effective on immigration and possibly being adopted by other states. The ideas of this law first came in hand as the state of Arizona had a horrible immigration problem enraging tax-paying citizens giving enlightment to the same ideas  to Georgia. In Georgia, the state Senate "passed the measure by 37 to 19. The Georgia House, which provided final passage for the bill, approved it 112 to 59."

Young People shouldnt vote???

One word comes to mind, UNCONSTITUTIONAL.  Leave it up to New Hampshire Republicans to say that young people are inadequate voters due to being "foolish', "lacking life experience", and vote "liberal". This is a bill to " permit students to vote in their college towns only if they or their parents had previously established permanent residency there." Many complain that not enough Americans are voting then why do we consider putting more red tape up and making more restrictions for American voters young or old? Only 71% of Americans are registered to vote! Passing bills to put young Americans out of the political loop and to eliminate the Election Day Registration policy to increase voter turn out is absurd! We shouldn't look at taking away the various options we have for Americans to vote but a way to make it easier! Solutions such as being automatically registered, having major employers and local employers give paid time off to vote, or using new technologies for online voting! Young Americans should be strongly encouraged to start voting now to learn the political system and to want to learn more about who they are voting for and why, so in future years the American voters are well educated from a young age! If a young American can go to war and die for his country how is it he can vote for his/her president? Lets use some common sense here my dear republicans and know that if you take away the rights from the young beings that hold Americas future in hand what are you left with?!

More drilling wont help!

In this editorial article,  USA Today is discussing one of the most popular and economically draining issues, Oil. Today, with the Libya and Egypt putting oil prices purchased by the United States up to a skyrocketing price of over $100 a barrel, we could be seeing gas prices at $5.00/gallon by summer of 2011. Not to mention, nearly half of America's deficit is from purchasing oversea oil of 1 billion dollars. What are we Americans to do when the government says more drilling will help? We can extend the dreading issue and continue in a visous circle when we know we cant use a nonrenewable resource forever? Ideas range from drilling in the Gulf of Mexico that will take years to produce any kind of kind of useful oil and nuclear plants which are no solution because they are expensive and take years to build.

President Obama has implemented a plan to adjust the regional and global issue by increasing vehicle efficiency,  the use of cleaner fuels and a higher investment in public transit. We Americans find the idea of using electric vehicles to be an idea that is far fetched. But this "far fetched idea" is being put to use as President Obama plans to have over 1 million electric on the road by 2015! This would cut  $4 billion dollars of "Big Tax loopholes" that would provide rebates to costumers and money to build rechargeable stations.

This uneven distribution of oil in the Middle east creating disparity of wealth and power; leaving a large gap between the rich and poor. The debt paid out by American citizens to always find new places to drill, and to invest so much in a source that can not be used for our great grandchildren, is a horrible investment. And to have war and lose the lives of our loved ones from a resource benefiting nothing is why " we must kick our oil habit before its too late."

Medicare Program open to fraud for Americans

Americas medicare and medicaid program is more than open to convicts taking full advantage of the prescription-drug program. In a recent report, it claims that Medicare cant verify all the prescriptions paid for leaving convicts open to make fake medical id numbers and even playing as dead medical doctors. In 2007, CMS showed nearly $1.2 billion paid for 18 million prescriptions with ID numbers that had been deactivated or unlisted in all drug classes. A solution is being made in the event that this problem will decease over time as the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) makes all "Schedule II" drugs which include heavy painkillers and highly addictive pharmaceuticals necessary to have a " DEA number or other valid prescriber identifier, spokesman Peter Ashkenaz said. Doctors must have a DEA number to prescribe Schedule II drugs." The DEA number on each prescription is anticipated to be highly effective as the number contains data to protect against potential fraud which can cost the taxpayers from $60 billion to $90 billion of our money! In the article provided by Wall Street Journal which explains this situation American taxpayers suffer with in a deeper manner. This article has much meaning to us as we can see problems are being resolved and acted on by the American government; instead of focusing on issues that have no resolutions at all which is shoved in our face every day by main stream media. Like to see a little sigh of relief when problems dealing with billions of dollars is being resolved... ahh...
